So, if you’ve ever wondered what probiotics are, what they do, and how they can benefit your health, you're in the right place. Let's get started! Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. These microorganisms, also known as "good bacteria," can be found naturally in some foods or taken as supplements. They help to keep your gut healthy by balancing the bacteria in your digestive system and preventing the growth of harmful bacteria. Research has shown that probiotics have a variety of health benefits beyond just gut health. Some of these include: Boosting the immune system Reducing the severity of allergies and eczema Improving mental health and reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety Promoting healthy skin Reducing the risk of certain types of cancer There are several ways to increase your intake of probiotics: Eating fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi Taking a high-quality probiotic supplement Consuming prebiotic foods like garlic, onions, and bananas that feed the good bacteria in your gut While probiotics are generally safe for most people, there are some cases where they may not be recommended.
